What did I learn most about technology?
It costs a lot of money;
I learned that we used different technology for the rovers;
technology can make our lives easier, but it can be a big headache when it doesn't work too. Learning the GIS software was fun. Also, videoconferencing allowed us to speak in person to people a long ways away; I learned a lot more about the Apple computers and how to use them;

I learned that:
SEAMAN
Seaman was a dog that went on the Lewis and Clark expedition. Lewis bought Seaman for the journey to the Pacific. The Indians called Seaman "bear-dog" because he was so big. Seaman was a Newfoundland dog. Seaman probably weighed between 100 and 150 pounds. Other common dogs in Seaman's time may have weighed as little as 20 pounds. Newfound lands are mostly black. Some Indians called horses "elk-dogs" so no wonder they called Seaman a "bear-dog."
Seaman was a big part of the expedition. He helped the expedition members get through tough situations. A buffalo came to the camp one night. He headed for Lewis and Clark's tent. Seaman barked and growled and scared the buffalo away. If he hadn't, the buffalo would have badly injured or killed the men sleeping outside of the tent and maybe people inside the tent as well.
Seaman was a good swimmer because he had webbed paws. Seaman liked to swim and he was very strong. He had a thick coat of fur that made the water roll off . One of his main jobs on the expedition was to hunt. Seaman and Drouillard were the best hunters in the group. Seaman hunted several squirrels before the trip even began. Sometimes Drouillard would wound a deer that was swimming, and Seaman would go fish it out. Lewis was smart to buy such a great dog.
