In late October 2003, on a gray day with drizzling rain, we went on a trip to Columbia Bottoms where the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers meet. We were at a spot where Lewis and Clark had been. We went with Gabby and Nigel, Dr. Ardvidson's assistants. We explored a trail by the river that was through trees and plants. It was exciting to experience the sites and smells as we thought about what Lewis and Clark might have experienced in much more rugged, uncertain conditions.
There were many plants on our trail. Like Lewis and Clark, we named some and took samples of them. I put this information inside a journal. This is the one I made.
