SURVEY
Why were you able to learn more about the Lewis and Clark Expedition
because of Mr. Slosberg's presentation?
..because he was playing the character I was going to play for the end
of the year presentations; he was very detailed and told a lot of stories; because he had studied a lot about the expedition and told it to us in a very interesting way;
He explained everything so clearly; it was fun & easy to understand; and I learned a bit more.
Why will you remember what he said, about history and life during
those times, more so than if you had heard a speech or watched a movie?
..because he played a lot of music; he was in front of me, I liked him and he played instruments; he made it very interesting and he got us into the Lewis and Clark Expedition by singing songs and playing instruments; it is easy to remember because he acted everything out; and it was funny!
What did you like best about his presentation?
..how he didn't play the violin like other musicians do; how he played so many instruments and his stories; the way he acted like Cruzatte; I thought he was funny and he was a lot like Pierre Cruzatte; he let us sing along and it was funny; I liked it when he put that thing in his mouth and "boinged" it to a tune!..
What did you wish he would have done more of?
..nothing; nothing, it was perfect; I wish he had played more songs; and nothing, it was perfect.
Name three things you learned today that you did not know.
Cruzatte had only one eye; about the going away from west coast celebration; they were hunting for elk in the first place; he was head boats man; songs; instruments; that he saved the keel boat, that he had one eye, and that he played the boingy thing (Jaw Harp);
I learned the keelboat almost sunk, they sang many different songs, they didn't sing the same ones over and over, and that he was a hunter on the expedition;
that they had different violins than we have today; one captain was not very jolly: and they gave instruments to the Indians.
