The Saga of Lewis & Clark Into the Uncharted West
By Thomas Schmidt and Jeremy Schmidt
I read The Saga of Lewis & Clark, the section called Into the Plains. On the Plains, there were a lot of animals. The explorers saw buffalo, pronghorn, wolves, foxes, coyotes, deer, jackrabbits, badgers, prairie dogs, and beavers. This was the first time Lewis, Clark, and their men had seen these animals. Lewis, Clark, and their crew went for a two-year journey through the country. They met many Indians along the way. They even encountered a grizzly bear, which was called a white bear by the plains people. Cruzatte was the first one to see it and got everyone else excited to try to find it again. They spent about 1 year in grizzly country and they all finally got to see the amazing animal. Lewis, Clark, and their crew had a very fun journey.
